Mr Yummy started as a tiny counter serving Birmingham's Chinese students the food they missed from home — beef noodles slick with chilli oil, rice fried the way their grandparents fried it, tofu that tastes like tofu is supposed to.
Word travelled. Today the same small team still cooks every dish to order, still refuses to cut corners, still doesn't take cards. (WeChat Pay works, and there's a cashpoint round the corner.)
We're not trying to be the flashiest restaurant in Birmingham — just the most honest bowl on Bristol Road.
